Hearts Unite the Globe (HUG):
A Nonprofit Organization for the Congenital Heart Defect Community
Anna Jaworski, President
Anna and her husband Frank are the founders of HUG. After their son, Alex, was born in 1994 with a heart defect, Anna wrote and published the information she wished she had been given. Anna is an accomplished public speaker, and the host of Heart to Heart With Anna, a radio program/podcast designed for the CHD community. She has written and edited several books published through Baby Hearts Press. Anna, along with Sue Dove, developed a comprehensive website of resources for CHD at CongenitalHeartDefects.com.
Frank Jaworski, CRNA, Vice President
Frank is a certified registered nurse anesthetist in addition to his work with the congenital heart defect community. He illustrated Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome: A Handbook for Parents and drew the heart diagrams in The Heart of a Mother. His master’s thesis was “Anesthetic Management of Pediatric Patients with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome for Non-Cardiac Surgery.”

She has a background in bank and lending operations as well as financial software applications. She is currently a software business consultant in the Long-Term Care Insurance industry. Laura has been active as a community nonprofit volunteer in organizations as diverse as Toastmasters International and St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
Laura Redfern, Secretary
Laura is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional who learned about the congenital heart defect community from her clients, several of whom are affected by CHDs. She has served the nonprofit community for nearly a decade by specializing in retirement planning for teachers, especially at community colleges. Laura is currently an active member of Toastmasters International and The Nature Conservancy, as well as HUG.
Jack Lubben, Esq.
Jack Lubben, Esq. is a retired lawyer who has worked with nonprofits for decades. He has recently become involved with HUG after moving to Austin and befriending the Jaworskis.
We at Hearts Unite the Globe (HUG) would like to thank the contributions of former Board Members (in alphabetical order) and our Interim Executive Director. Thank you for helping HUG to grow!

Sue Dove is Heart Mom to Scott Dove and she began helping Anna communicate online with the CHD community by being the webmaster for Baby Hearts Press. She and Anna later created the most comprehensive site on the World Wide Web for CHD-related resources — http://www.congenitalheartdefects.com.
